Nauru, Chinhoi best placed locals at FBC Zim Open

CLIVE Nguru and Robson Chinhoi will go into today’s FBC Zimbabwe Open Golf Championship second round as the best placed local players after they posted a three under par 69 at Royal Harare yesterday

Chinhoi and Nguru will be expected to continue with their fine form during today’s decisive round for the cut.

Nguru had been playing well on the local circuit after he got support from Mashwede Holdings.

The Chapman based golfer said he is looking forward to today’s round and is looking forward to do well.

“I am grateful to the support I got before this tournament and I hope to do well tomorrow (today). “I will take each short as it comes and I will keep my head down.

“The course is playing well and I hope to improve in the next round,” said Nguru.

The FBC Zimbabwe Open Golf Championship being led by Chilean professional golfer Tomas Gana who shot an impressive seven under-par 65 to take control.

Gana is ahead of a six way tie between Merrick Bremner, Allen John, Gabriel Morgan, Jaco Prinsloo, Austin Bautista and Ryan van der Klis who were all on six- under-par 66.

The local golfers did not disappoint much as Michael Wallace, Darlington Chikayambidze and Stuart Krog are all on two under par.

Seasoned campaigner Ryan Cairns is on one under as Zimbabwe favourite Kieran Vincent is tied an level par with Amateur Thomas Sinclair.

The tournament continues this morning.
