NDARAMA High School has demonstrated its hard work and resilience after facing some challenges over the year.

The school held its Speech and Prize Giving Day recently.

There has been sustained improvement at the school with outstanding results from students.

Ndarama High School aims to empower its teachers with cell phones and laptops to enable them to invest more into research.

The school offers a diverse curriculum with 16 academic and 11 practical learning areas, catering for the needs of 1 455 full-time and 82 part-time students.

Headmaster, Oddy Matongo, said the goal is to surpass last year’s exams.

He said the remarkable achievements demonstrate their commitment to academic excellence. The school has a vibrant Music Department, which scooped the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe High School gold medal for 2022.

The School has a dedicated staff of 67 teachers, 14 non-teaching and 12 attaches.

Matongo said the teachers have gone above and beyond to ensure that they meet the high standards with the staff sacrificing personal time for the sake of the learners’ future.

“Beyond academics, our students excel in various sporting activities and have achieved national and international recognition in oratory competitions. It is this prowess that has seen us dominate Masvingo Junior Council for three consecutive years.

“It has also seen our public speaking, debate, and Spelling Bee teams fly the national flag high in Lesotho. Imagine Africa, a business club, also flew the national flag high in Rwanda and qualified for the Qatar competitions, which unfortunately we could not afford.

“Special mention goes to our Sports Department whose charges are putting our school on the national and regional maps.

“To our students, I urge you to continue striving for excellence. Your achievements make us proud. Looking ahead, we are fully committed to achieving Education 5.0 goals which aim to create an education system that not only imparts knowledge but fosters innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

“We are aspiring to equip our learners with the ability to contribute to the socio-economic transformation of our country. For this reason, we will continue to push for better facilities, more resources, and a conducive learning environment for all.

“To our parents and guardians, thank you for your unwavering support. We acknowledge and call upon the alumni of Ndarama to play a more significant role in its development. To our staff, your dedication is invaluable.

“Let us work together to address our challenges and build a brighter future for Ndarama High School and remain a beacon of excellence. May God continue blessing Ndarama High.”

Challenges

Fee collection remains a concern, impacting our projects.

Inadequate classrooms resulting in hot-sitting

We need specialist rooms, a computer laboratory, and a school hall.

Transportation and water supply remain pressing issues.

Water crisis — Ndarama High School lacks a reliable water supply which affects day-to- day operations, especially hygiene and sanitation.

Despite these challenges, we have made significant strides:

The recent installation of Starlink Internet enhances our digital capabilities

We plan to empower teachers with cell phones and laptops for research.
