Ndebele gets top post

Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) research section.
Renaissance Capital, which is part of the Renaissance Group, is one of the leading investment banks focused on the emerging markets of Africa, Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
In a statement on its website, Renaissance Capital head of equity research Mr David Nangle said Ms Ndebele’s appointment represents a further expansion of the firm’s award-winning, emerging and frontier markets research franchise, and its commitment to key growth markets on the continent.
“Nothando’s experience and knowledge of the SSA markets, combined with her asset management experience, as well as her involvement with economic policy advisory, form a solid base from which she will develop and expand Renaissance Capital’s SSA research product offering.
“It is ideal to service our growing client base in this part of the investment universe,” he said.
Ms Ndebele has 13 years’ experience in financial services, combining work in asset management, private equity as well as a sell-side analyst, also having acted as an advisor on economic issues to the Government in Zimbabwe.
She began her career on Deutsche Bank’s equity research team in Johannesburg and at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in London, later joining Investec Asset Managers in Cape Town.
She was a founding member and partner of Afena Capital, a firm that offers specialist equity and balanced portfolios serving the South African institutional market.
Most recently, she served as a senior investment officer at Africap Microfinance Investment Company, in Johannesburg.
Ms Ndebele is a CFA charter holder, with an MBA from Said Business School, at the University of Oxford, and a BA in Economics from Harvard University
Renaissance Capital’s core businesses include mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets, securities sales and trading, research and derivatives.
The firm is also involved in metals and mining, oil and gas and agriculture.
