ITaS a good feeling, the same as discovering that your ex-girlfriend is dating someone less successful than you are.
Thatas the case with Ngezi Platinum Stars coach Tonderai Ndiraya who was overlooked by Dynamos at the start of the season when they opted for Portuguese expatriate Paulo Jorge Silva.
Itas almost end of the season and Dynamos didnatA come close to any silverware but Ndiraya will be in the Chibuku Super Cup final. He secured a final berth in style, beating Highlanders FC, a team that Dynamos failed to beat this year.
In all fairness, at Dynamos Ndiraya was a man who could revive the fortunes of the ailing giants. Last year he led them to a second place finish in the league, a place in the final of the Chibuku Super Cup a as well as a spot in the semi-finals of the NetOne Cup the previous year.
Like they say, a prophet is not accepted in his hometown, Ndiraya is a hero in Ngezi but heas seen as an under achiever in Harare. However, he doesnat really care!
a?Looking back I would say being overlooked for the Dynamos job was a blessing in disguise,a? said Ndiraya.
In June he took over a Ngezi Platinum side struggling to pull themselves out of the relegation zone.
A month later he was voted the Premier Soccer League coach of the month after posting a string of successive victories to place Ngezi Platinum in the top eight on the league table.
As a sign of confidence in the coach the Ngezi Platinum bosses rewarded his hard work with a permanent contract.
a?I recently signed a three-year contract. Itas been slightly more than four months into the new job and Iam quite happy with what we have achieved so far. Everything is falling into place,a? he said.
Ngezi meet FC Platinum in the final of the Chibuku Super Cup on 5 November at a venue yet to be announced.
Ndirayaas team is also in contention for a top eight finish in the league.
