NEWLY-APPOINTED Harare City captain Themba Ndlovu believes the players who joined his side this season will boost their challenge both at home and on the continent.
The skipper joined other Harare City players and the technical team in a clean-up exercise at the Charge Office Bus Terminus in Harare yesterday.
“We are slowly getting there and I will not be under pressure to lead the team as I have good working relations with the players,” said Ndlovu. “The new additions will add depth to our team and I believe we have a good chance to go all the way. The players who have joined us are good and it is good for the sake of competition.”
The team was busy on the market where they secured the services of Blessing Moyo, Ronald Chitiyo, Raphael Manuvire, Edwin Madhanhanga and Jimmy Tigere.
Coach Taurai Mangwiro said they were happy to be part of the clean-up exercise.
“We are on track as far as preparations are concerned, this initiative is a noble thing as we are part of the city and by doing this it gives residents a yardstick to follow.
“We have been training hard and all the players are now available, which gives us ample time to prepare for our fixture.
“There is need to give back to the community and we hope this will give people a good picture that we do not only wait for soccer but also have a social responsibility to do. This is not going to end here,” said Mangwiro.
Harare City face Madagascar’s AS Adena in the preliminary round in a fortnight and were helped in the clean-up exercise by Mayor Bernard Manyenyeni.
