Highlanders’ Brian Ndlovu was the second on the badges ladder, receiving his 10th badge after hitting five 180s in the season.
A player is awarded a badge with every five 180s that he hits.
The association chairman and Ah-Sat captain, Wayne Brandt, won the most match plays award, a minimum of 140, after doing so 77 times this year while Bosso captain and national team player Nkululeko Ncube got the highest close award after a stunning 170 close.
Parkview Kanka, despite sharing the stage for the league’s punching bag with Zenzele, were awarded with the most disciplined team prize while How Mine were adjudged to be the most improved team in the league.
The association also had three tournaments, triples, doubles and singles that saw Bosso’ trio of Maclean Chirwa, Munyaradzi Dave and Sikhulile Sibanda getting the runners up medal in a tournament that was won by
Parkview Lions’ Jackson ‘Jack Daniels’ Ndimande, Lethukuthula Nkomo and Siphetha Sibanda.
Bosso’s Dave partnered his captain Nkululeko Ncube in the Doubles Championships and they came second behind Ah-Sat’s Brandt and Marlon Bismark.
Former national king, Ndumiso Tshuma, came second best to Railstars’ Patrick Zimidzi in the Singles Tournament. For Zimidzi it was a year to remember as he ended the year as the highest ranked player in the region, ranked at position eight in Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, the association chairman Brandt, expressed his disappointment over the non attendance to the awards by other teams in the league after only six teams out of the 15 attended the Friday night event.
“I am really saddened by the low turnout of teams to this function, we are also not happy by the fact that we had to postpone our raffle draw after a lot of teams failed to sell their raffle tickets,” said Brandt during his address.
