MARTIN Sibanda and Ndolwane Super Sounds continue to excel with their exquisite and well choreographed acts which have seen them rise to being the group of the moment in Matabeleland. The group was formed a year ago after splitting from the original Ndolwane Super Sounds resulting in two Ndolwane outfits. One is fronted by Charles Ndebele.

Over the weekend, the group held gigs in Bulawayo and Gweru which shows the surge in demand for their music even outside the region.

Martin’s group has defied odds and has established itself as the most sought after band in the region with promoters competing for their participation at shows, an achievement Martin attributed to commitment and hard work.

“We work hard. Our aim is to be a competitive group which at any given moment can produce a polished and entertaining act,” he said.

Martin said the fact that their debut album after the split, Bakhuzeni, was doing well, shows that their music has been accepted and is loved by their target audience.

“I will not release another album this year because Bakhuzeni is still doing well on the market. I have a number of new songs that I am working on. However, I believe in perfecting my music before releasing it. I want the next album to be better than my last and I am looking at ways to improve,” said Martin.

Bakhuzeni carries the song Sekukubi, popularly known as Uyakhuzwa which is dearly loved by fans all over Matabeleland because of its lyrics.

The band members exhibit great organisational qualities as well as good guitar playing skills which have all contributed to their rise.

Popular among fans are bassist Dennis Nkomazana and lead guitarist Xolani “TK” Dube who are always on top of their game during live performances.

Rhythm guitarists Vincent Moyo and Misheck Sithole as well as drummer Mike Ncube have brought out great sounds whenever they perform.
On the band’s split Martin said all he could say was two plants could not thrive in a single pot and in the end they agreed to go separate ways.

“It was a complicated case, but all I  can say is we grew up and realised we had different ambitions and goals. I wanted one thing and he wanted another, so we went our separate ways,” said Martin.

He called on fans to keep supporting his efforts as he continues to give them quality entertainment.

“I will be in Hwange on Friday and fans should come and see me in action. We always strive to give the best and we will do the same in Hwange,” said Martin.
