RHUMBA household names Madlela Skhobokhobo and Ndolwane Super Sounds are set to crack the stage at the National Aids Music Gala at Hwange Old Ground on 27 September.
The provincial manager for National Aids Council, Dingani Ncube, said the concert was designed to remind people about the HIV and Aids pandemic.
“The gala seeks to urge and motivate people to remain determined to fight HIV and also to remind people to be tested to prevent loss of life since medical facilities are available to treat HIV,” he added.
Ndolwane Super Sounds lead singer Martin “The Big Boss” Sibanda said it was an honour to be part of the National Aids Awareness Gala.
“The public needs to be reminded about HIV and Aids because the virus is still a threat to lives despite the development of medical facilitations that reduce the damage caused rather than cure the virus,” said Sibanda.
Ndolwane Super Sounds is expected to produce a thumping performance with their exhilarating rhumba songs which have a direct message about HIV and Aids namely Abantwana which warns parents to protect children from sexual abuse, Bakhuzeni which urges parents to shape children’s future while they are still young and Amaginqigonqo which addresses the danger possessed by Aids among others.
Man of the moment Madlela Skhobokhobo, who is taking the City of Kings by storm, is expected to steal the show with his foot-stomping track Ngamnanka which won the song of the year gong at this year’s Bulawayo Arts Awards.
Popular comedian Sikhobokhobo will also wow fans with his songs like Golide, Sholosho, and is also expected to crack jokes that will leave fans begging for more in this much anticipated event.
The sensational Skhobokhobo and Ndolwane Super Sounds will be backed up by Hwange local artistes DJ Divara, hip-hop artistes Tashaboy and Sleekstar among others.
