Negligent motorcyclist banned

Taurai Tapfuma (37) was prohibited from driving class three vehicles for 6 months with his license endorsed and was fined US$450 or three months in prison.

Tapfuma is an employee of Atlas Agric Karoi, he was sentenced by the Karoi Magistrate Court.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) in a statement on X said: “On the 24th of May 2024 at around 1200 hours the accused person was riding a Yamaha motorbike along Karoi-Chanetsa road going towards Tengwe when he hit a 5-year-old pedestrian while she was crossing the road from left to right. The complainant sustained some head injuries and bruises on her legs. The accused person was charged with negligent driving and the particulars of negligence were as follows:

  1. Failing to keep a proper lookout
  2. Failing to stop or act reasonably or collision seemed imminent.”
