The champions displayed their classy netball skills to finish undefeated at the tourney sponsored by the Ecumenical Church Leaders Forum and walk away with US$500 and a floating trophy. They had thumped rivals Tenax 9-3 in the semi finals after finishing tops from pool A with 20 points recording their biggest win of 23-3 against Belvedere Teachers College. It was expected that Nehanda would make the final but it was the identity of the losing finalists which surprised many.
Their participation hung in the balance after failing to secure affiliation fee and struggling to raise a team but their determination saw them through.
For their efforts they walked away with US$450.
Moreover, they produced the tournament’s best player in Lazaro Mangeyi who led her team also undefeated from pool B.
Their biggest win was 36-0 over Nyadire. Harare District, however, toiled to an 8-7 victory in the semi-finals over an improved and promising Glow Petroleum who went on to finish fourth, receiving US$300 behind Tenax who earned US$350 in finish third.
The bottom six teams got US$100 and those who finished between ninth and 15th received US$150 while those between fifth and eighth walked away with US$200 each.
