Neighbour assaulted over match stick

A 31-year-old Chitungwiza man last week appeared in court facing allegations of assaulting his neighbour over a match stick. Misheck Seula of number 5323 Manyame Park was fined $50 after pleading guilty to assaulting Onai Rutendo Mutangi (26) before Chitungwiza magistrate Precious Muzondo.The court heard that on 18 December 2016 at around 1230 hours, a misunderstanding ensued when Seula approached Mutangi’s residence asking for a match stick to light his cigarette.

Upon being asked by Mutangi why he was asking for a match stick from her since they were not on talking terms, the court heard that Seula became angry.

He assaulted the complainant with clenched fists and booted feet. Mutangi, who sustained a swollen leg, later made a report to the police, leading to Seula’s arrest. Miss Karen Kunaka prosecuted.
