A DORA man has been hauled before the courts on allegations of raping his 11-year-old neighbour.
Ashley Bvirindi (25) appeared before Mutare provincial magistrate, Mr Richard Ramaboea facing rape charges.
Prosecuting, Ms Tafadzwa Chiwanza said on August 31, Bvirindi, of Bvirindi Village under Chief Zimunya, lured the complainant by lying to her that she was being summoned by her father who was at the road near their homestead.
“The complainant complied and when they arrived at the road, Bvirindi dragged her under a tree and raped her once. Bvirindi gave the complainant $30 to buy her silence and ordered her not to tell anyone about the incident,” said Ms Chiwanza.
After the offence came to light, a police report was made leading to the accused’s arrest.
Bvirindi’s mother tried to plead her son’s innocence, accusing their neighbours of fabricating the issue.
“This is not the first time my son has been arrested over similar allegations. There is bad blood between us and our neighbours and they want my son to admit to something he did not do,” she said.
Bvirindi was remanded in custody.
