FORMER Warriors’ international defensive midfielder Tinashe Nengomasha has been named as the only foreigner among South African glamour side Kaizer Chiefs’ top five greatest midfielders of all time.

According to a report by South African online media Diski365, Nengomasha is named alongside other Amakhosi legends Doctor Khumalo, John Moshoe, Emmanuel Ngobese and Thabo Mooki.

Nengomasha spent a highly successful decade with the Soweto giants, winning just about every domestic trophy on offer. He won both the 2004 Absa PSL Player of the Year and the Players’ Player of the Year awards.

His breathtaking abilities in the field saw him making more than 300 appearances for Amakhosi, which endorsed him the club’s legendary status and being the first Zimbabwean and first foreigner to complete a decade with Kaizer Chiefs.

Nengomasha played just about every match for Chiefs, missing games only when he was suspended or injured. The former midfield hardman also played for Bidvest Wits and Mpumalanga Black Aces. He was a key member of the Warriors for many years.

Nengomasha’s leadership qualities and experience saw him attracting interest from Cape Town All Stars, who signed him in April,   to boost their chances in the South African National First Division League — @khumzallen.
