Nengomasha resigns from SRC

Eltah Nengomasha was appointed to the substantive role of director general of the sports regulatory board in March 2023. She was subsequently suspended for misconduct in March 2024, before being reinstated in March this year.

AFTER a distinguished tenure in Zimbabwe’s sports administration sector, Elta Nengomasha has officially stepped down as Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) director general, expressing gratitude to colleagues and stakeholders for their support over the years.

In a farewell message, Nengomasha highlighted the progress made through collaboration with media partners and stakeholders, noting that the country’s sporting landscape is stronger today because of those shared efforts.
“Sport is richer because of the synergies created with the media on various forums,” she said.

Nengomasha described her time in office as an honour and thanked the nation for the opportunity to serve at the helm of the sector.
“As I tap out, I am grateful for the opportunity to have served my country at the realm of sports administration. I wish the sector all the best in all its endeavours,” she added.

Before exiting a professional group, she gave a parting note of encouragement to continue supporting Zimbabwean athletes on the global stage particularly highlighting young athlete Tapiwa Makarau, who is flying the national flag high.
“As I exit the group, kindly do not forget to watch Tapiwa Makarau as he lifts the national flag with pride,” Nengomasha wrote.
