Government has constructed a new school in Neta Resettlement Area in Mberengwa as part of its ongoing programme to improve access to education, particularly in resettlement and other remote areas. The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education recently announced that it would construct 2 000 schools.
This came after Cabinet ordered the Primary and Secondary Education Ministry to commence construction of 100 primary and secondary schools before the end of last year. The country has a schools deficit of 2 056.
One of the schools that were constructed under the programme is Neta Secondary School in Neta resettlement area. The state-of-the-art school is almost complete and President Mnangagwa is expected to open it soon.
Mberengwa North Member of Parliament Cde Tafanana Zhou said the completion of Neta Secondary School would improve the standards of education in the district.
“Neta Secondary School will be one of the best in the district. The infrastructure and the learning facilities meet the standards of the best schools in the country.
“Children in the area were walking long distances to nearest secondary schools. This shows the commitment of President Mnangagwa and his new administration to improve the quality of education in rural areas and the country at large,” said Cde Zhou.
