Netball fever hits Bulawayo

Bulawayo is set for a netball explosion this Saturday as Imbizo Queens host a sizzling Nedbank Premier Netball League bubble at White City Stadium.
Fans should prepare for flying bibs, sizzling passes and enough court drama to dominate conversations all weekend.
The City of Kings will welcome five visiting teams in what promises to be a non-stop netball marathon packed with crunch clashes and bragging rights.
Teams expected in town include Ligi Dolphins, Zhombe Chibbs, Harare District, Harare City and struggling basement side Zimstat Inyanga.
The “bubble” concept means fans will enjoy several top-flight matches at one venue instead of travelling across the country chasing fixtures.
In simple terms, it is a buffet of netball action served hot at White City.
Imbizo Queens chairperson Rosemary Moyo said preparations are complete and the hosts are fired up for battle.
“We are ready for the games and we are inviting everyone to come and enjoy top netball action,” she said.
Imbizo Queens will lock horns with Harare District, Harare City and Zimstat Inyanga in what could be a defining weekend for their campaign.
Currently sitting 10th on the table with eight points from nine matches, the Bulawayo side is desperate to climb the standings after a mixed season of four wins and five defeats.
Assistant coach Sehliselo Ndlovu believes the real fireworks will come when Imbizo Queens face Harare District.
“That is the match to watch,” she declared confidently. The Queens have also strengthened their squad with the addition of Saziso Dube from Greenfuel, a move fans hope will inject fresh energy into the team.
Meanwhile, poor ZimStat Inyanga arrive in Bulawayo carrying the league’s heaviest baggage after enduring a horror season with zero wins in eight games.
Organisers believe the weekend will be less about misery and more about showcasing the growth of netball across Zimbabwe.
