THE exciting Manicaland Division One Netball League has reached halfway of the 2023 season with some notably outstanding players receiving recognition.
In their analysis of individual player and club performance for the first half of the 2023 season, the Manicaland Netball League authorities, together with team managers came up with a list of outstanding performers.
The best striking team accolade went to Lowveld-based Ratings, with their player, Shelter Gamanya, getting special mention for her attacking prowess, while the best defender award was scooped by Santa Queens’ Primrose Chawira.
Gwebu High School from Buhera got recognition for being the most developing team, while the most disciplined team is Rusitu Golden Queens from Chimanimani.
The most committed team is Gatsi Queens from Honde Valley.
Manicaland Netball Division One League fixtures secretary, Munyaradzi Phiri said an overall analysis of the player and club performance will be done at the end of the season.
“We sat down as the authorities running the Manicaland Division One League as well as the team managers from different clubs and we came up with the list of outstanding performers.
“We will have the list of the best performers of the season at the end of all the 2023 bubble matches. With sponsors available, we want to host an awards ceremony to give due recognition to outstanding players and clubs,” he said.
League action is currently on a mid-season break and is set to resume on September 12, with all the teams getting down to competitive matches in their bubbles.
Venues for the September 12 bubbles will be Bumba Primary in Chimanimani District, Mweyamutsvene High School in Marange, Chirovakamwe Primary School in Mutare’s sprawling suburb of Dangamvura and Nyamhuka Primary School in Nyanga.
Meanwhile, all netball teams in Chipinge are being invited to register for a Division Two League that will also be played around Chipinge District in bubble formula to reduce transport costs and travelling.
“We urge all schools to register so as to improve netball talent in schools. We will have Division Two netball launch soon after registration. Our mission is that every woman and girl child should play netball as a career and for fitness and health, while our objective is to let Chipinge lift the flag of netball around the world,” reads a notice circulated by the league authorities.
