NetOne distributes solar battery chargers

Handing over one of the battery chargers to in Murehwa at Nyahuni Adventist Mission, NetOne brand manager Mrs Loveness Chaparira said the idea behind the solar battery chargers came after realising electricity problems being faced by the rural community.

“The solar battery chargers are meant for the rural communities that have now embraced the new technology of using mobile phones but face difficulties when it comes to charging their phones as most of the time there will be no electricity in the rural communities.

“This is going to reduce the number of trips they have to take to go to the township to charge their phones, instead that time will be dedicated to the betterment of the community,” she said.

She added that the battery charger was not only meant for the school but also for the whole community, who are now able to charge their phones for a fee by buying airtime every time a phone is charged.
The headmaster at Nyahuni Mission, Mr Caxton Mukasvanga, who received the charger on behalf of the school, expressed appreciation of the efforts by NetOne in improving the rural communities so that they can be in touch with the rest of the country.

“What NetOne has done, it has improved the communication of the community since we had difficulties in communication with the Ministry of Education, as most of the time there is no electricity and our phones will be flat,” he said. Mr Mukasvanga also added that the solar chargers have given them a sense of belonging since they could now brought closer to other provinces.
