NETONE, a State-owned mobile telecommunications operator, is intensifying the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) across its operations to enhance its business in line with global dynamics.

This is expected to improve network management, improve customer experience and support Zimbabwe’s ambitions to become an innovation-driven economy by 2030.

According to NetOne, AI has moved beyond being a futuristic concept to become a strategic enabler that is reshaping the way telecommunications services are delivered.

According to NetOne, as Zimbabwe advances towards the aspirations of its Vision 2030 agenda, it has repositioned itself beyond the traditional role of a telecommunications provider, seeking to become a key driver of an inclusive and digitally connected economy.

The company showcased its AI capabilities at the 3rd Edition of the Zimbabwe Annual Telecommunications Conference and Exhibition (ZATCE 2026).

During the event, NetOne demonstrated AI-enabled systems and predictive analytics designed to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.

NetOne group chief executive officer, Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, said the deployment of AI-powered optimisation tools was enabling the company to transition from reactive network management to predictive and autonomous operations.

He said through these technologies, the company can anticipate network congestion, optimise resources in real time and maintain improved service quality even during periods of high demand.

“Artificial intelligence is not a distant concept but a present-day strategic enabler. The company is weaving AI into the very fabric of its operations, transforming how networks are managed and how customers are served.

“By deploying AI-enabled optimisation tools, NetOne is shifting from reactive network management to predictive, autonomous operations, allowing it to anticipate congestion, optimise resources in real time and deliver superior service quality even in the most demanding conditions,” said Engineer Mushanawani.
