Nets ladies remain unbeaten

 Blessing Rwizi Sports Correspondent —
NETS ladies basketball team remains unbeaten in Week 19 of Manicaland Basketball Association 2016/17 second half after outclassing Sharks who were topping the log standings the previous week.

The games were played at the usual venues, Mutare Boys’ and Girls’ high schools last Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Nets won 37-9 against AU ladies, but Sharks still remain a threat to them as a single point separates the two.

Nets now have 13 points, while Sharks have 12 points.

Mercenaries have also remained the male section log leaders with 22 points from last week’s games after beating Sixers 39-13.Titans retained the second spot with 21 points after going 39-45 to Sophists. Titans risk being toppled from second position by third and fourth placed D-Knights and AU who both have 20 points after winning their games last week.

D-Knights won 91-39 against Florida, while AU outclassed Chiefs 53-41.

AU teams have been on holiday and not been playing for a couple of weeks, but are now a threat to all teams including log leaders, Mercenaries.

“Competition is what is making the league and game exciting. There is still stiff competition among the teams and the good part of it is that we are having a large following from Mutare and beyond,” said Manicaland Basketball Association spokesperson, Taurai Dhliwayo.

Teams to take part in tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday’s games are: Nets, Titans, D-Knights (ladies), AU, Sophists, Mercenaries, Chiefs, D-Knights (males) and Sixers.

D-Knights will entertain Sixers in Dangamvura at 3pm, but the rest of the games to be played at MBHS commence at 9am.
