Celebrated vocalist, songwriter and acoustic guitarist Netsayi Chigwendere is set for a three-day musical voyage in New York, the United States, from November 22 to 25. She will be supported by her group, the Black Pressure. Black Pressure consists of gifted young Zimbabwean artistes who are crossing over musical boundaries and has performed in South Africa and the United Kingdom.
In New York, the group’s first performance is set for Brooklyn Academy of Music at “The Next Wave Festival” on November 22.
Netsayi returns to the same venue the following day and on November 25 closes her act at Original Music Workshop at a “VIP Event” for the unveiling of the work of Eli Sudbrack.
The talented acoustic guitarist said: “We are going to showcase our work ahead of touring more intensively next year. I am travelling with my band and I will be on acoustic guitar and lead vocals.
“The other members are Ray Mupfumira (bass, mbira, tenor and soprano marimba and vocals), Humpfrey Domboka (guitar, baritone marimba and vocals) and Bright Chisvo (ngoma, drumkit and voice)”.
Netsayi has had a stint with various international artistes. Following a successful career in the UK and Europe over the last 10 years, Netsayi is still going strong with her unique, electro-acoustic folk sound.
