The country’s largest integrated media house, Zimpapers shone at the Zimbabwe Chief Executive Officers network awards after grabbing three accolades.
Zimpapers chief executive Mr Pikirayi Deketeke was the winner of the public sector leader award with The Sunday Mail editor Victoria Ruzvidzo winning the best outstanding leader in business award at a colourful event held on Thursday night in Harare.
Kwayedza personal assistant to the editor Phillipa Chinhoyi won the outstanding women leader in the best Personal Assistants category.
Guest speaker at the event, musician Plaxedes Machuma, popularly known as Plaxedes Wenyika, said whatever gift God bestowed on every individual the world was waiting for it to blossom.
“We went through Covid-19 and went through a lot, the challenges that come to us now is what is the next step? Hope we make the world a better place and I am challenging you to catch up,” she said.
Zimbabwe Chief Executive Officers network president Mr Michael Monson said the awards were to acknowledge and honour people that make a difference in engineering, public sector, public relations, women in business and personal assistants.
Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Mary Mliswa-Chikoka attended the occasion in which her sister Ms Nomhle Maggie Mliswa was among the winners in the outstanding women in the business category.
Forty people from across the country were honoured at the event among them Gweru City Council public relations officer, Ms Vimbai Chingwaramusee, who won an outstanding award in the public relations sector. Former Sunday Mail reporter and now Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Public Relations Mr Tinashe Farawo also won an award in the public relations sector.
Gweru businesswoman Dr Smelly Dube also won the best outstanding leader in business award.
