NEW: 53 cholera deaths confirmed

The Ministry of Health and Child Care’s most recent situation report states that 53 cholera deaths have been confirmed since the outbreak began in February.

A portion of the report states, “Zimbabwe has recorded 8 230 suspected cholera cases, 1 301 confirmed cases, 7 909 recoveries, 53 confirmed deaths, and 153 suspected deaths.”

The deaths were recorded in Chitungwiza (8), Manicaland (25), Mashonaland West (2), Mashonaland Central (2), Mashonaland East (1) Masvingo (11), and Harare (4).

Two provinces, Manicaland (3,303 cases) and Harare (2,486 cases) have reported the largest numbers of cholera cases.
