A Bulawayo man has been told to pay $8 000 or risk spending 60 days in prison after pleading guilty for possession of dagga (mbanje).

Langton Mbanje (30), who resides at number 4261 Cowdray Park in Bulawayo, appeared before the Western Commonage Magistrates Court charged with possession of an illegal substance.

It is the State’s case that on February 1, 2022, police detectives from the CID Drugs and Narcotics Bulawayo received information that the accused was in possession of dagga at his place of residence.

Detectives located the accused person and proceeded to his residence where a search was conducted in his presence, leading to the recovery of loose dagga hidden inside rubbish in his yard.
