NEW: 628 malaria cases and two deaths recorded last week

Two deaths and 628 malaria cases were reported for the week ending October 6, with 73 cases recorded among children under the age of five.

This brings the cumulative number of malaria cases to 36 674 and 82 deaths.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care disease surveillance report, the deaths were reported in Hurungwe and Mwenezi districts.

Data shows that the highest number of cases were from Mashonaland Central and Mashonaland East.

“The provinces that reported the highest number of cases were Mashonaland Central (269) and Mashonaland East (133),” said the Ministry.

Meanwhile, 4 000 suspected influenza cases were reported during the same week.

No deaths were recorded.
