AN all-inclusive public health association that brings together all stakeholders in the healthcare industry – the Public Health Practitioners Association of Zimbabwe (PHPAZ) – has been established.

The association is led by an 11-member board that includes Dr Amos Marume (president), Ms Tafadzwa Zhawari (secretary-general), Mr Isaac Mutingwende (treasurer), Dr Billiard Tapesana (vice treasurer) and Ms Kathy Manase.

Bruce Nyoni, Mr Dudley Chiwandire, Dr Evidence Gaka, Mr Adam Muchenje, Dr Prudence Manyuchi and Mrs Tracey Mubambi complete the board.

“Public health is an essential component of society which requires collective efforts from society and stakeholders,” said Mrs Zhawari.

“It now recognises the importance of social scientists, economists, journalists, health promotion experts, statisticians, among others.

“Our association is a collaborative effort between healthcare professionals, policymakers and community leaders who are committed to promote public health and advocating for health systems strengthening in Zimbabwe and the region.”
