DENDERA musician Allan Chimbetu won the hearts of many traditional and faith healers with a flawless performance at Harare Gardens on Saturday.
The show, which was also graced by the energetic and youthful mbira group Duramazwi was held on the sidelines of the Zimbabwe National Practitioners Association (ZINPA) annual general meeting.
ZINPA represents the interests of traditional healers, midwives, faith healers and herbalists.
Mr Cuthbert Nyaruvenda, the ZINPA president, praised Chimbetu and described him as a cultural ambassador.
“In most of his songs, he sings about culture and tradition. Chimbetu is a true cultural ambassador,” he said.
In response, Chimbetu said he was humbled by the positive response that his band received from those in attendance.
“It is always uplifting and encouraging to play before such a receptive crowd. The response that I got from the audience was unexpected to say the least,” Chimbetu said.
