NEW: Billiat on target, but…

Online Reporter

Former Warriors striker Khama Billiat netted his seventh league goal of the season but it was not enough to prevent Kaizer Chiefs from slumping to a third consecutive defeat on Wednesday.

Amakhosi lost 2-1 to Knox Mutizwa’s Golden Eagles in a DStv Premiership match at Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban.

It was Kaizer Chiefs’ third straight loss in the league, having also fallen to SuperSport United and Stellenbosch in recent weeks.

Golden Arrows recalled Zimbabwe international striker Mutizwa back into the starting line-up, but it was Chiefs who grabbed the lead through Billiat.

However, the hosts levelled through Siboniso Conco before winning the contest thanks to a late goal by Michael Gumede.

Kaizer Chiefs remain fifth on the log with 39 points, while Arrows are four places below.

Chiefs are six points behind a CAF Champions League spot with four rounds of action in the DStv Premiership left.

Royal AM are second on the log, behind newly crowned champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

The top two teams from the DStv Premiership qualify for the CAF Champions League.

Sundowns needed a point to win their fifth straight title and they achieved just that thanks to a 0-0 draw against Cape Town City on Wednesday.

It was the first South African championship medal for Zimbabwean left-back Devine Lunga, who came on as a 58th-minute substitute for Brian Onyango.

Former Ngezi Platinum Stars striker Terrence Dzvukamanja played 90 minutes as Orlando Pirates laboured to a goalless draw against Chippa United on Wednesday.
