Harare City Council (HCC) has warned the public against bogus council employees who are taking money from desperate jobseekers by promising them employment as municipal police.

In a statement on Tuesday, HCC acting town clerk Engineer Phakamile Moyo said council does not recruit from the streets.

“It has come to the attention of council management that there are individuals collecting cash from desperate jobseekers, promising them easy recruitment into the city’s enforcement division under the chamber secretary’s department,” he said.

“Council has not engaged anyone to act on its behalf and therefore wants to advise the public against parting with their money.”
