A HARARE man allegedly masqueraded as the owner of an Air Zimbabwe property for seven years and was paid US$127 000 by six tenants he leased the property to.

For the misdemeanor, Washington Hamunakwadi (44) of 13-13515 road, Vainona Borrowdale, Harare was dragged before the courts on charges of fraud.

Hamunakwadi was denied bail by magistrate, Mrs Yeukai Dzuda, who remanded him in custody to March 05, 2022.

Prosecutor, Ms Lynntte Gwarisa, said in 2015 the accused person entered an Air Zimbabwe property and appointed himself as a caretaker without Air Zimbabwe’s consent and engaged six tenants.

He misrepresented to the tenants that he was the owner of the house and collected rentals between 2016 and 2022.

The misrepresentation caused Air Zimbabwe to suffer total prejudice to the tune of US$127 000.
