NEW: Boy (17) killed in lorry accident

A 17-YEAR-OLD boy died after he was hit by a lorry near Nyaukari Bridge in Chipinge over the weekend.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the incident, saying the boy was ran over when the lorry was overtaking another vehicle.

“The driver of the lorry, Evious Mapungwana (36) was driving a lorry and as he was overtaking another vehicle just after the bridge, he ran over Prosper Bepu. He died on the spot from injuries sustained in the accident,” said Inspector Muzondo.

He added that Mapungwana is assisting the police with investigations.

Inspector Muzondo urged drivers to always exercise extreme caution and avoid speeding when on the road.
