NEW: Harnessing Manicaland’s basketball talent

THE sport of basketball has huge potential to flourish and grow in Manicland as the province boasts seams of talent that can be nurtured to produce top professionals, a local enthusiast of the game has said.

Speaking on the sidelines of the All Stars Tournament held at Mutare Boys’ High School over the weekend, one of the organisers, Innocent “Stolz” Sithole said the talent exhibited by the participating teams shows that Manicaland can make huge strides in the development of the game.

“We have a lot of talent coming up, especially girls, and that is good for the growth of the game. The potential is there and by polishing these gems the future of the sport in the country and at national level looks bright.

“The event went on very well and we had a very good crowd that showed appreciation of the sport through their support at the basketball courts. This tournament also helped the participating teams to fine-tune and prepare for the other forthcoming competitions,” said Sithole.

The All Stars Tournament was organised by Manicaland Basketball Association and other stakeholders of the game.
