The City of Bulawayo has served eviction notices to vendors operating along 5th Avenue in the central business district (CBD).

According to the municipality, 5th Avenue is not a designated vending site and will remain exclusively for vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

In a statement on Thursday, Bulawayo Mayor, Mr Solomon Mguni warned those behind the illegal allocation of vending stalls

“The City of Bulawayo is aware of the illegal occupation by unauthorised personnel on the area along 5th Avenue between Herbert Chitepo and Fort Street,” reads the statement.

“The ongoing allocation of vending bays by unsanctioned personnel is not recognised or supported by the City of Bulawayo and is therefore unlawful,” he said.
