NEW: Bulawayo Town Clerk appointed NSSA board chair

THE City of Bulawayo’s Town Clerk, Mr Christopher Dube, has been appointed as the new chairperson of the National Social Security Authority (NSSA), following the dissolution of the previous board by Government.

According to the NSSA website, Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Edgar Moyo, announced the new NSSA Board, which comprises Mr Dube (Chairman), Ms Josephine Takundwa, Mr Innocent Chinyama, Mr Gilbert Takavarasha, Ms Florence Mucha Taruvinga, Ms Ruth Sibanda, Mrs Mercy Faith Matongera, Mr David Dzatsunga, and Mr Walter Mupandawana.

Mr Dube takes over from businessman Dr Emmanuel Fundira, who was appointed NSSA chairperson in May 2023. Dr Fundira had been set to serve a four-year term ending in May 2027.

He was served with a termination letter of service meant to lay the foundation for NSSA in line with the new strategic thrust recently approved.

The other members of the new board include Mr Innocent Chinyama, Chief Executive Officer of Zimnat Asset Management, and Mr Gilbert Takavarasha, Director of Human Resources and Administration at Dairibord Holdings.

The labour sector is represented by Ms Florence Taruvinga, President of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU), Mr David Dzatsunga of the Zimbabwe Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions (ZICOSTU) and Ms Ruth Sibanda from the Zimbabwe Federation of Trade Unions (ZFTU).

Also appointed are Ms Josephine Takundwa, Vice President of the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC); Mrs Mercy Faith Matongera from the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare; and Mr Walter Mupandawana, Head of Human Capital Development at the Public Service Commission.

The new board assumes office at a defining moment for NSSA, as the authority seeks to rebuild public trust, enhance its investment portfolio, and demonstrate its relevance in driving Zimbabwe’s economic growth.
