YOUTH Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training Minister Tino Machakaire has expressed profound heartbreak over the sudden death of businessman and philanthropist Wicknell Chivayo and wife Lucy, who died in a helicopter crash yesterday evening.
The devastating Bell 430 helicopter crash claimed five lives en route from Chikomba to Harare.
In a poignant and emotional tribute, Minister Machakaire described the painful fragility of life and offered words of solace to the shattered families left behind.
“They left their loved ones never knowing that it would be their final journey,” Minister Machakaire shared in his heartfelt message. “In a single moment, families lost people they loved, voices they knew and lives they still expected to share tomorrow with. Life can be painfully fragile and unpredictable.”
The air tragedy claimed the lives of high-profile businessman Mr Wicknell Chivayo, his wife Lucy Chivayo (née Muteki), Ms Senelisiwe Magagula, along with flight crew members Captain Kelvin Soda and Captain Courage Mutavirwa.
Reflecting on the overwhelming burden resting on the bereaved, Machakaire extended his deepest condolences: “Today five families are carrying a pain that words cannot adequately describe. My heart and deepest condolences go to the families and loved ones… May God hold every grieving family close and give them strength through these darkest hours.”
The sudden disaster has drawn widespread shock and mourning, leaving grieving relatives, friends and colleagues grappling with the weight of an unexpected farewell.
“Gone too soon,” Minister Machakaire added in final tribute. “May their souls rest in eternal peace and may their memories forever live in the hearts of those who loved them.”
