The new interim president of the Central African Republic says she will hold talks with militant groups in an attempt to restore order in the conflict-ridden country.
“I want to meet with the armed groups and listen to them,” Catherine Samba-Panza said at a Press conference in the capital Bangui on Tuesday, adding: “If they took up arms, then there is a reason for that.”
General Ousmane Mamadou Ousmane, the president of the commission in charge of military reform of the Seleka rebel alliance, expressed support for the interim president, who was appointed on Monday.
“Our goal is clear, to support the new president to finish her mission, to support her so that peace returns to Central African Republic,” said the Seleka general.
Meanwhile, at least seven people were reportedly killed in clashes near the north-western town of Bang close to the borders with Chad and Cameroon. — Press TV.
