NEW: Chibuwe High School bus in accident scare

A CHIBUWE High School bus ferrying learners from Harare was yesterday involved in a freak accident near Birchenough Bridge after its front tyre burst.

The school’s School Development Committee chair, Mr Phenious Bote confirmed the incident and said no one was injured.

“Our school bus, with learners who were travelling from Harare, was involved in an accident near Birchenough Bridge when its left front tyre burst. The driver managed to control the bus and pulled off the road. No one was injured,” said Mr Bote.

He said the school authorities and police reacted swiftly and attended the scene.

Mr Bote said the school secured alternative transport for the learners and the bus was now at the school premises.
