IN its endeavours to decentralise judicial services, the Judiciary Services Commission (JSC) has plans to open courts in every district of the country, JSC secretary Mr Walter Chikwana has said.

Speaking during a monitoring tour of Chimanimani Magistrates’ Court this afternoon, Mr Chikwana said JSC has managed to open resident magistrates’ courts in most districts across the country.

“In districts where JSC has not yet opened the relevant courts, circuit courts are available and offer services for the people. When we opened the 2023 legal year, Chimanimani was one of the districts that were scheduled for a resident magistrates’ court and we are glad that we managed to open it earlier this month and it has been successfully operating since then,” said Mr Chikwana.

The Chimanimani Magistrates’ Court was officially opened on February 3.

Previously, the district was operating with a circuit court.
