NEW: Chitungwiza mother seeks urgent help for ailing children

Online Reporter

Ms Tambudzai Tutai of Chitungwiza is urgently seeking financial and material assistance for her two children who are battling severe health conditions.

Her daughter, Gladys (7), requires heart transplant surgery in India which costs US$85 000, while her other child, Nkosiyabo (15), was born with cerebral palsy and requires special care.

Gladys’ survival hinges on taking five different types of medication and frequent hospital visits.

Nkosiyabo requires a wheelchair.

“My child (Gladys) is always in and out of the hospital, surviving on pills that also require specific nutritious foods which we are struggling to provide,” said Ms Tutai.

“My son needs to go to Sally Mugabe Hospital for regular physiotherapy sessions, but I cannot afford the transport fares.

“He has never been to school because we can’t afford a wheelchair or the fees for schools that can accommodate him.”

Ms Tutai works as a security guard and her husband has been unemployed for the past six months.

“I was given a quotation of US$85 000 for my daughter’s surgery. With the work I do, I cannot even begin to pay this bill or provide for my immobile child’s needs,” she said.

“I am pleading to anyone who can help us in this dire situation.”
