NEW: City budget approved

CITY of Mutare’s annual budget for the year 2023 amounting to $45 billion and pegged in US$ has been approved by the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, July Moyo.

 

Acting Town Clerk, Mr Blessing Chafesuka, confirmed the development, saying the local authority is now implementing the new tariffs as was advertised and approved by the minister.

 

He expressed confidence that the budget will greatly improve efficiency in Mutare City Council’s service delivery system and enable the recapitalisation as well as maintenance of infrastructure in pursuit of a smart city status.

 

“City of Mutare’s 2023 budget amounting to $45 billion has been approved by the Minister of Local Government and Public Works. The 2023 budget tariff is pegged in US$ and will be payable at the official exchange rate. We are now implementing the new tariff as was advertised and approved by the minister.

 

“It is with great hope and expectation that the budget will enhance the city’s service delivery system, enable the recapitilasation and maintenance of infrastructure as we move towards attaining a smart city status,” said Mr Chafesuka.

 

Mr Chafesuka urged ratepayers to pay their monthly bills in time and clear outstanding debts to ensure sustainable service delivery.
