NEW: City of Harare reopens three clinics

Online Reporter

THE City of Harare, which has been battling a high staff turnover, on Wednesday announced the reopening of three clinics following progress in recruiting new nurses.

“Today we reopened three of the nine clinics that were last operational in July 2020, namely Avondale Satellite Clinic, Glen Norah Satellite and Highlands Family Health Services.

We hope to reopen more clinics once we get more locum nurses,” reads the statement.

The local authority has been operating with less than 50 percent of the required nurses, leaving around 150 000 residents without primary healthcare.

The nurse shortage, which extends to Government hospitals, is a result of the aggressive recruitment of health personnel by countries such as the United Kingdom.
