Demoted? Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu

HIGHLANDERS Football Club moved swiftly to stem the team’s poor run of form by latching on to visiting English Football Association badge holder Mhangabhani Neyma of India who was on a job hunting expedition in the country. The Indian national has coached in three continents over the past two decades and won several titles. Some of   his players are said to have gone on to  play for top clubs in Germany, England and Spain.

Neyma, who arrived in Bulawayo yesterday with a Harare-based agent, was sneaked into the Highlanders executive meeting last night to finalise the deal.

Impeccable sources at the club said he penned a one year contract and would work as the technical director in charge of all Highlanders teams with Zambian Kelvin Kaindu as his second in charge.

His first match will be against Chapungu  at Ascot Stadium on Sunday and he is expected to meet two Bosso board  members at a coffee shop along Fife Street this morning.

“The purpose of the meeting will be for him to have an appreciation of the club’s history and culture. There are certain things that make Highlanders different from other Zimbabwean teams and unless he has that appreciation, he might subject the lads to alien pre-match rituals and that might create an unworkable environment for him,” said a source within Bosso.

Contacted for comment last night, Highlanders chairman Peter Dube said: “Hey you guys it’s always Highlanders that, Highlanders this, why can’t you give us a break and write about the other 15 clubs. We are working on our first game and I see no reason why you have to stay this late (11.45PM) to call me when I have been in a lengthy and fruitful meeting with my executive.”

The coach said he would only be available to talk after meeting the two board members at the popular coffee shop at 10AM.
