THE Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation has commenced the drafting of a communication strategy that aims to market the activities of the ministry as well as protect and enhance its image in this new media world.

Officially opening the communication strategy workshop in Mutare yesterday, Ministry of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation Permanent Secretary, Dr Thokozile Chitepo said: “Through this communication strategy, I am confident that we will have more success than failure. The Ministry of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation will deploy pro-active internal and external communication in order to inform all members and stakeholders about topical issues as well as protect and enhance the ministry’s image in this new media world. The communication strategy aims to market the activities of the Ministry vis-a-vis the country’s economic blue print, National Development Strategy (NDS1).”

The workshop, which ends on Friday, is being attended by departments in the ministry, directors of communication and advocacy from other ministries and public relations heads from various parastatals.

Deputy Director, Communications and Advocacy in the Ministry, Mr Ranson Madzamba, said: “The drafting of a robust communication strategy will ensure that a plan is laid out in communicating programmes that have something to do with youth, development of sports and artistic sector, among other things. It is within this strategy where we are going to involve athletes and artistes so that they become part and parcel of the development.”
