MUTARE-BORN seasoned defender Onismor Bhasera yesterday made a triumphant return to the Supersport United starting XI and captained them to a crucial 1-0 victory away to Richards Bay in the South African DStv Premiership.

The Sakubva-bred star had missed Matsatsantsa’s previous three matches after limping off in the first half of their season-opening 1-1 draw against Chippa United.

Supersport United had not won any of the matches they played without their skipper.

However, Bhasera made a timely return and wore the armband for the entire 90 minutes to inspire his team to their first victory of the campaign after five attempts.

Former Warriors and Dynamos shot-stopper George Chigova was in goals for the Pretoria-based side and kept a clean sheet for the second successive game after wresting the Number One spot from Boalefa Pule.

Supersport United host defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns in round six of the fixtures next week on Friday.
