THE Zimbabwe Youth in Construction (ZYC), a body that represents the interests of youths in construction, has identified funders that are going to bankroll the upgrading of Copacabana Bus Terminus in Harare.
Representing the interests of businesspeople who are under the age of 40, ZYC was recently awarded the tender to upgrade bus termini by Government.
Mr Gerald Gwabvira, chairperson of the body, said his association, which boasts a membership of 120, has done its part and is now waiting for Government to endorse the ambitious project.
“We secured funding to the tune of US$50 million to run this project. We are going to make final design presentations to the relevant authorities and once we are given the green light, construction work will begin without further delay,” Mr Gwabvira said.
The project is being implemented on the Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) contract system.
According to Mr Gwabvira, the Copacabana rank will be transformed into a modern bus terminus that will also incorporate a shopping mall.
