THE total number of Covid-19 cases detected in schools since the beginning of this term have increased, with 89 new cases being recorded over the past week.

In a post-Cabinet Press briefing today, Government said Covid-19 cases in schools had risen to 606 from the previous week’s 517.

“The majority of the infected learners (422) were day scholars which is indicative that the infections are from the communities,” said Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa.

She urged people to continue to adhere to the laid down World Health Organisation and national protocols put in place to curb the spread of the pandemic.
