adminAlready Ras-hood has set his sights on changing the status quo on the local dancehall industry and leave his mark through his thought provoking lyrics.
“I am producer and singer. I own a music studio called F-One but my wish is to collaborate with other established producers who can assist in post-production,” he said.
Ras-hood is riding on the success of his debut album simply titled “Introducing Ras-hood”, which features Lillian Rupapa on vocals.
“I have been doing music since I was young and I hope my album will appeal to both young and the old because of the mature sound and lyrics. I am also grateful to the few DJs who are playing my music on radio. I also want to thank Lillian for lacing her vocals on one or two songs she is a good singer,” he said.
Though a greenhorn in the entertainment business, Ras-hood said he will start to stage shows in Marondera soon.
“My goal is to establish myself as a serious artiste in Marondera before conquering Zimbabwe. People should expect to see me during live shows soon,” he said.
Ras-hood said his aim was to take dancehall and reggae music to another level. He hailed artistes who came before him who have made Zimbabwean dancehall what it is today.
The 20-year-old said dancehall was growing by each day and he encouraged other artistes to be as creative as possible to match international standards. In his view, dancehall music was becoming popular among Zimbabwean youths since artistes are coming up with fresh tunes every time.
“I discovered my passion for music at high school and one of my strengths is that I used to do poetry before I started music. Music is art and so is poetry,” he said.
Ras-hood also paid tribute to his mother for allowing him to set up his studio in the backyard.
