NEW: Diarrhoea claims four in a week

AT LEAST four people have succumbed to diarrhoea while 6 894 common diarrhoea cases were reported in the past week.

Overall, fatalities now stand at six from the cumulative 20 299 cases that have been reported so far.

The Ministry of Health and Child Care’s Weekly Disease Surveillance Report for the week ending January 22, 2023 shows that the deaths were reported from Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, Mangwe and Gwanda districts.

“The deaths were reported from Sally Mugabe Central Hospital (2), Mangwe district (1) and Gwanda district (1).

“Of the reported cases, 3 076 were from children under the age of five,” reads part of the statement.

The data also shows that the provinces with the highest number of cases are Mashonaland East (1 223) and Manicaland (1 138).
