THE Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has four new directors following the retirement of previous office bearers.
Former Harare Athletics Board (HAB) chairman and veteran sports administrator Sebastian Garikai replaced Joseph Muchechetere as the SRC’s sports development director.
Garikai has also previously been Chef De Mission for a number of international competitions that Zimbabwe has participated in and is also a former Zimbabwe national rugby team manager.
Bindura University of Science and Technology bursar Brian Hodza is the Commission’s new finance, human resources and administration director, while Patience Kabanda, who was the head of corporate affairs specialising in finance was replaced by Peter Mudzimiri.
Elat Nengomasha replaces Daniel Kuwengwa as the director of business development and marketing.
Part of the mandate of the SRC is to facilitate for the accessibility of sports and recreation programmes to the people of Zimbabwe and to oversee the general running of sport and recreation programmes by National Sports Associations.
In doing this, the Commission is guided by the SRC Act of 1991 and Statutory Instrument 342 of 1995. The SRC board is chaired by renowned lawyer Gerald Mlotshwa.
