THE second edition of the Zimbabwe International Drone Conference is set to begin in Harare on Wednesday.

Described as “Southern Africa’s premier gathering of drone industry professionals”, the event will run from August 3 to August 5.

Local drone companies, Precision Aerial Group and Zimbabwe Flying Labs, are organising the event.

“This annual event brings together different drone industry stakeholders, including drone operators, service providers, software and hardware developers, regulators, governments, non-profit and the private sector for an immersive and experiential event designed to promote the growth of drones and unmanned aerial systems in Zimbabwe and across Africa,” Precision Aerial group director Mr Tawanda Chihambakwe said in a statement.

The first edition of the event was held last year, albeit under strict Covid-19 health protocols.

According to event organisers, international and local speakers will deliver expert presentations on a number of use case applications including agriculture, construction, conservation and wildlife management, disaster management, energy, utilities inspections, land surveying, mining, security and surveillance.

Speakers will be drawn from Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
